The Museum of Joy exists to create a public space in which to explore, cultivate, and celebrate the emotional, cultural, psychological, and spiritual experience of joy.
Joy is both enormously personal and essentially universal. Each of us walks through our lives containing a handful of joyous images, memories, and moments: a collection of the meaningful, a trove of fragments like shards of stained glass. The Museum of Joy is here to help bring those pieces together, to make a window that can show us, perhaps, a strange, sunlit glimpse of the wild beauty of our existence.
Through art, dance, music, performance, architecture, science, philosophy, poetry, storytelling, food, investigation of landscape, community, and intentional space, The Museum's mission is to create a frame, or many frames, in which that glorious chaos of shining glass might hang.
